Mr. Padre is at home in the big ballpark in the sky!
On Monday, June 16th, Padres and SDSU fans lost a great, great man, Tony Gwynn. I grew up watching the Padres in the 80's, starting in '82. (I was 8 going on 9!) He was the kind of guy who would sign autographs after he was done with a game. He was only one of three (that I know of) that made a career with one ball team for their entire career. (The other two are Dan Fouts for the San Diego Chargers and Cal Ripken, Jr. for the Baltimore Orioles.) I had never met the man, but he was the best and was never accused of juicing for a better batting average. I and many will miss you, Mr. Padre!
